摘要: We describe the identification and characterization of a transcription factor encoded by atf1+ gene fission yeast Schizosaccharomyces pombe. The Atf1, contains bZIP domain at its C-terminus with strong homology to members ATF/CREB family mammalian factors in vitro binds specifically ATF/CRE recognition sites. Furthermore ATF-like binding activity detected extracts from cells is entirely lost upon deletion gene. Upon growth saturation, exit mitotic cycle enter G0-like stationary phase. However, on rich medium, entry atf1- into phase restricted they rapidly lose viability; this does not occur minimal medium unless cAMP levels are raised. Thus appears be regulated negatively positively Atf1. also sterile sterility due combination two defects: first, nitrogen starvation majority fail arrest G1 cell second, induction ste11+ expression lost. represents second example an event that pathway Despite their close association however, these regulatory pathways function independently Atf1 directly modulated or mutations alter components signalling pathway. plays important role response adverse environmental conditions, which either sexually differentiate resting state.
