摘要: There is an alarming demand for inventory as well exploitation of the indigenous plant wealth India. Canavalia cathartica and maritima are two little known wild legumes distributed widely on coastal sand dunes mangrove areas southwest coast Over a decade, Department Biosciences, Mangalore University, Karnataka involved in unravelling importance germplasm spp. with view to exploit their potential nutritional agricultural needs. The current article emphasizes biochemical features (proximal, mineral, amino acids, fatty acids antinutritional features) bioavailability protein (growth nitrogen balance rat model) raw thermally processed seeds. Nutritional seeds have been compared other food sources (rice, wheat, soybean whole egg) recommended patterns (FAO/WHO NRC/ NAS). Further, stress-tolerant rhizobia fungi (arbuscular mycorrhizae endophytes) these germplasms highlighted. Importance landraces sand-dune stabilization, traditional knowledge utility agriculture has briefly discussed.
