摘要: Current scientific concern to establish the reality, nature and speed of climate changes, believed by many be inevitable consequence human activities, should serve reinforce our determination understand similar details “natural” (i.e. non-anthropogenic) variability climate. Reconstructing past climates on all timescales is clearly important if we hope mechanisms that control (Bradley, 1990). However, scope rapidity changes foreseen in scenarios an “enhanced-greenhouse” world, highlight particular relevance palaeoclimate studies focus recent centuries millennia (Eddy, 1992). When considering question “Can detect enhanced greenhouse signal?”, natural records (so-called “proxy” data) are annually resolved capture decadal-to-century timescale variability, represent essential basis for comparison with relatively short modern which rarely longer than a hundred years.
