摘要: For decades researchers and runners have endeavored to improve endurance running performance. Recent evidence suggests that adding resistance training a program can Our purpose was determine if 6wks of exercise via negative eccentrically-induced work (RENEW), an increases muscle size, strength, stiffness, could serve as effective “non-running” modality for improving Recreational were assigned a: RENEW (n=7), plyometric (PLYO, n=7), or control (CON, n=7) group. trained on eccentric ergometer (3x/wk, 10-30min, 54-66% peak heart rate) while the PLYO performed standardized protocol (2-3x/wk, 30min,) 6wks. Groups continued their normal running. Before after training, participants 3km time trial 5-bound hop test evaluate performance stretch-shortening cycle utilization. During increased rates from 192±44 324±89W exercising at “moderate somewhat hard” exertion levels (11.9±1.1 14.0±0.7 Borg-scale units). Both reported similar soreness (0.68±0.49cm vs. 1.37±1.32cm; group x interaction, P=0.310). Following all groups exhibited times distances (group interactions P=0.232 P=0.94, respectively). These results demonstrate be safely tolerated performing training. however, not strong enough stimulus in these recreational runners. findings fall squarely middle previous reports indicating 1) improvements, 2) decrements, 3) no change when utilizing non-running tasks. iii Acknowledgements This project supported by Center Undergraduate Research University Maine.
