摘要: Questions regarding the problem-solving capacity of state have been long-standing. The financial crisis as well future demographic and environmental challenges raised spectre depleted state, a that lacks legitimacy resources to steer social, economic political developments. This article considers how perspective centres on executive politics can illuminate key debates surrounding state. It does so in three steps. First, it whether earlier literature ‘crisis state’ 1970s contributes contemporary debates. Second, questions age ‘governance’ has come rescue, not just outlined by literature. Third, discusses contribution study state's draws wider implications for politics.
