摘要: Findings from comparisons of joint and sole custody families that do not control for predivorce differences in demographic family process variables (factors may predispose to choose or be awarded custody) are limited generalizability, since obtained group attributable predisposing (self-selection) factors, custody, both. This study compared a random sample 254 recently separated, not-yet-divorced on 71 might plausibly differentiate between legal versus maternal custody. Twenty such factors were identified controlled subsequent 52 26 2 years postdivorce. Families with had more frequent father-child visitation, lower satisfaction arrangements, rapid repartnering, fewer child adjustment problems (net selection factors). Moreover, these effects did appear moderated by level predecree parental conflict. No association fathers' compliance support orders was obtained.
