摘要: Introduction In addition to their cholesterol-lowering effects, the statin class of drugs appears enhance osteogenesis and suppress bone resorption, which could be a clinical concern during orthodontic treatment. this animal study, we aimed determine whether atorvastatin (ATV) affects tooth movement (OTM) through osteoclast inhibition. Furthermore, analyzed potential adverse effects ATV on long-bone turnover endochondral ossification. Methods Rats were administered (15 mg/kg) or saline solution via gavage (n = 12 animals/group), starting 2 weeks before initial OTM. Tooth displacement was measured after 7, 14, 21 days. Histologic sections maxilla femur obtained 14 21 days OTM stained (hematoxylin eosin; TRAP assay) for histomorphometric analysis. Results associated with significant ( P Conclusions This experimental study showed that long-term use can significantly promote inhibition slow in first week rats. Under physiologic conditions, drug did not affect
