摘要: BACKGROUND The α-glucosidase (EC 3.2.1.20), a calcium-containing intestinal enzyme which is positioned in the cells cover microvilli brush border. carbohydrates require metabolism by before being absorbed into small intestine, and as result, this represents significant drug target for effective management of diabetes. There are few α- glucosidase inhibitors clinical practice that challenged several limitations. Thus, new safe therapeutic agents class required. In regard, plant secondary metabolites very promising source to be investigated. Herein review, we have focused on preclinical studies various glycosides with vitro inhibitory activity. METHODS literature available websites such GoogleScholar, PubMed, Scopus. All peer-reviewed articles were included without considering impact factor. RESULTS surveyed revealed marked profile derived from plants, some them extremely potent relatively standard, acarbose trials exhibited multiple targeted effects. CONCLUSION Keeping view results, these strong candidates further, more detailed ascertain their potential contribution diabetes, where targets required address.
