摘要: A new approach to the field normalization of classical journal impact factor is introduced. This approach, called audience factor, takes into consideration citing propensity journals for a given cited journal, specifically, mean number references each and fractionally weights citations from those journals. Hence, variant fractional citation-counting scheme, but computed on rather than article or disciplinary level, and, in contrast other cited-side strategies, focused behavior entities. comparison with standard factors Thomson Reuters shows more diverse representation fields within various quintiles impact, significant movement rankings individual journals, nevertheless high overall correlation factors. © 2008 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
