摘要: In the first of two articles presenting case for emotional intelligence in a point/counterpoint exchange, we present brief summary research field, and rebut arguments against construct presented this issue.We identify three streams research: (1) four-branch abilities test based on model defined Mayer Salovey (1997); (2) self-report instruments Mayer–Salovey model; (3) commercially available tests that go beyond definition. response to criticisms construct, argue protagonists have not distinguished adequately between streams, inappropriately characterized as variant social intelligence. More significantly, critical authors assert incorrectly is driven by utopian political agenda, rather than scientific interest. We argue, contrary, grounded recent advances study emotion; specifically regarding role emotion plays organizational behavior. conclude attracting deserved continuing interest an individual difference variable behavior related way members perceive, understand, manage their emotions.
