摘要: The clinical features, pathology, and immunopathology of chronic graft-versus-host disease (GVHD) developing in the long-term rat radiation chimera are described. At 6 to 12 months post-transplant, previously stable ACI/LEW chimeras developed patchy diffuse severe hair loss thickened skin folds, had microscopic features resembling scleroderma, Sjogren's syndrome, hepatitis. Skin histology showed dermal inflammation acanthosis with atrophy appendages, progression sclerosis. liver revealed hepatitis bile duct injury proliferation periportal piecemeal necrosis. tongue considerable submucosal inflammation, muscular necrosis, arteritis. serous salivary glands, lacrimal bronchi lymphocytic duct, acinar, mucosal columnar epithelium. thymus lymphocyte depletion medulla prominent spleen lymph nodes poorly germinal centers but increased numbers plasma cells. IgM was observed along basement membrane around basal cells ducts. present also arteries tongue. Immunoglobulins eluted from skin, cross-reacted epithelium usually both ACI Lewis skin. Increasedmore » titers speckled antinuclear antibodies were serum rats (GVHD). Chronic GVHD is very similar human a potentially excellent model for autoimmune disorders including Sjorgren's hepatitis.« less
