Knowledge, attitude and practices about menstruation among adolescent female in Uttarakhand

摘要: Menstruation is a phenomenon unique to the females. The onset of menstruation one most important changes occurring amongst girls during adolescent years. It becomes part and parcel their lives until menopause. Apart from personal importance, this also has social significance. To study knowledge, source information, attitude practice regarding among female Uttarakhand, cross sectional survey randomized sample 200 females was interviewed through questionnaire method at villages Khirshu block Pauri, Garhwal. revealed that 32.5% had prior information knowledge before attaining menarche, 32% reported uterus as organ where menstrual blood comes, 43.5% girl's mother first informant followed by sister in 20%. Majority preferred cloth pieces rather than sanitary pads absorbent, only 38% used menses. 63 7% dried clothes corner house. observed disposal material, 64.5% threw dustbin, 25% on road side, while 10.5% burned cloths. present low level various misconceptions regarcling menstruation, which become silent epidemic demolish women's life closely interrelated with poor hygiene.
