摘要: Glycobiology has contributed tremendously to the discovery and characterization of cancer-related biomarkers containing glycans (i.e., glyco-biomarkers) a more detailed understanding cancer biology. It is now recognized that most chronic diseases involve some elements inflammation; these include cancer, Alzheimer's disease, metabolic syndrome (including consequential diabetes mellitus cardiovascular diseases). By extending knowledge experience glycobiology community regarding biomarker discovery, we should be able contribute diagnostic/prognostic glyco-biomarkers other inflammation. Future integration large-scale "omics"-type data (e.g., genomics, epigenomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, glycomics) with computational model building, or systems approach, will facilitate such efforts.
