Abundances of Demersal Sharks and Chimaera from 1994-2009 Scientific Surveys in the Central Mediterranean Sea

摘要: Bibliographic and data gathered in scientific bottom trawl surveys carried out off the Southern Coasts of Sicily (Mediterranean Sea), from 1994 to 2009 between a depth 10 800 m, were analysed order prepare checklist demersal sharks chimaera, which are species sensitive fisheries exploitation. Excluding rare (such as Oxynotuscentrina) or uncommon (e.g. Squalusacanthias), estimated frequencies occurrence abundance indexes show possible risk local extinction for almost exclusively angelshark, Squatina spp.) preferential Scyliorhinusstellaris) neritic species.
