摘要: The rapid dissemination of community-acquirtred meticillin-resitant Staphylococcus aureus (CA-MRSA) infections among young people without healthcare-associated risk factors have emerged during the past decade. Reported prevalence rates CA-MRSA vary widely studies, largely because different defi nitions employed and settings in which studies been performed. Although majority are mild skin soft tissue infections, severe life-threatening cases reported. mostly associated with staphylococcal strains bearing movil element cassette chromosome mec (SCCmec) type IV Panton-Valentine leukocidin genes. These more frequently susceptible to a variety non-beta-lactam antibiotics. Clinicians must be aware wide spectrum disease caused by CAMRSA. Continued emergence MRSA community is public health problem, therefore warrants increased vigilance diagnosis management suspected confi rmed infections. * Departamento de Microbiologia y Parasitologia, Facultad Medicina, UNAM.
