摘要: Inhibition of hepcidin expression by erythropoietic signals is great physiological importance; however, the inhibitory pathways remain poorly understood. To investigate (i) direct effect erythropoietin (Epo) and (ii) contribution putative mediators on repression, healthy volunteers were injected with a single dose Epo, either low (63 IU/kg, n = 8) or high (400 IU/kg, n = 6). Low-dose Epo provoked down-modulation within 24 h; was not immediate as circadian variations still present following injection. High-dose induced no additional response, that diurnal fluctuations abolished in spite extremely levels. We did find significant changes such transferrin saturation, soluble receptor, growth differentiation factor 15. Furthermore, potential inhibitor, hemojuvelin, found unaltered stimulation. This finding consistent absence signs iron deficiency observed at level skeletal muscle tissue. Our data suggest repression humans may be controlled directly but mediated undefined factor.
