摘要: Ozone is distributed throughout the atmosphere with its highest concentration in stratosphere between about 15–40 km. Both production and breakdown are powered by solar ultraviolet radiation, though at different wavelengths. The cycle of generation destruction keeps constant, but on an extremely low level: If compressed under atmospheric pressure, total ozone layer would be order a few millimeters thick. Therefore, gaseous pollutants such as chlorinated fluorocarbons (CFCs) can effectively decrease density, even they emitted relatively small amounts (about 1 million tons per year).
