Children’s Risk Taking Behaviors: The Role of Child-Based Perceptions of Vulnerability and Temperament

摘要: Objective To examine the relationship between perceptions of vulnerability, temperament, and children’s risk taking behavior in a simulated home environment. Methods Children their primary caregivers were interviewed regarding temperament vulnerability to injury. In addition, interactions with hazards observed an environment representing typical home. Results whose reported higher levels activity significantly more likely report lower injury show increased risky behavior. After controlling for gender differences, behaviors predicted from child-based vulnerability. Conclusion Perceptions active temperaments represent significant factors potential injuries Modifying as well identifying at-risk is important consider when developing effective interventions.
