摘要: Large rotator cuff tears (supraspinatus and infraspinatus) are common in patients who perform overhead activities (laborers, athletes). In addition, following large tears, these commonly attempt to return pre-injury activity levels. However, there is a limited understanding of the damaging effects on uninjured joint tissues when doing so. Therefore, objective this study was investigate effect returning overuse supraspinatus infraspinatus tear shoulder function structural biological properties intact tendons glenoid cartilage. Forty rats underwent 4 weeks followed by detachment were then randomized into two groups: or cage activity. Ambulatory measurements performed over time adjacent cartilage evaluated. Results demonstrated that animals did not have altered but despite this, tendon properties. These mechanical changes corresponded transcriptional regulation chondrogenic genes within tendon. This helps define mechanisms leading damage provides framework for treating active patients.
