摘要: Abstract An evaluation of the petroleum generating potential onshore Eocene-Miocene sequences Western Sabah, Malaysia was performed based on organic petrological and geochemical methods. The analysed are Belait, Meligan, Temburong West Crocker formations western Sabah. Belait Formation which is Stage IV equivalent in offshore represents one major source rock/reservoirs petroleum-bearing Sabah Basin. Eocene-Early Miocene deepwater turbidites whilst Meligan shallow marine fluvio-deltaic deposits. vitrinite reflectance pyrolysis T max values show that samples generally immature for hydrocarbon generation, whereas mature to late maturity stage generation. overall bulk rock properties fair good with TOC more than 1 wt %, yield range 400–1300 ppm moderately high HI many samples. Most representing have less 1 wt% no potential. Interestingly, collected characterized by slump deposits (MTD) TOC>2 possess excellent matter present all studied mainly terrigenous origin abundance woody plant materials observed under microscope. Consequently, predominantly gas prone, dominated Type III III-IV kerogen except minor occurrence mixed oil-gas prone II-III mass transport Formation.
