摘要: Petroleum geology of the area offshore Malaysian states Sarawak and Sabah in Northwest Borneo is discussed. Exploration activities have centered this for past 20 years. Drilling activity over decade has led to discovery two large oil fields, six gas several smaller fields. The geological framework evolution East shelf discussed, along with comment on basement rocks, geosyncline (Cretaceous-Paleogene), middle Tertiary rifting, tectonics, facies (Neogene) analysis. Three giant fields are examined: Baronia field, Samarang Central Luconia field. Discussions include material about location, stratigraphy, structure, hydrocarbon reservoirs, development date. A final section highlights petroleum generation trapping mechanisms Malaysia area.
