摘要: This chapter covers the dimorphic members of families Onygenaceae and Ajellomycetaceae, which include Blastomyces dermatitidis, Histoplasma capsulatum, Paracoccidioides brasiliensis, Coccidioides immitis C. posadasii as well Emmonsia species. B. dermatitidis is thermally dimorphic, converting from mold phase to yeast under appropriate conditions temperature nutrition. In environment in culture at room temperature, fungus exists a producing septate hyphae arthroconidia that usually develop alternate hyphal cells. Inhalation conidia usual mode infection leading blastomycosis. The incubation period has been estimated be 4 6 weeks. coccidioidomycosis humans. 1 3 Paracoccidioidomycosis predominates adults, who display 85% 95% cases, persons agriculture-related occupations. disease more often diagnosed males than females. There wide spectrum clinical manifestations histoplasmosis, ranging transient pulmonary subsides without treatment chronic or widespread disseminated disease. Tissue sections should stained with periodic acid-Schiff, Grocott-Gomori methenamine silver, hematoxylin eosin permit detection characteristic large thick-walled spherules
