摘要: Background: For the past two decades, studies have investigated relationship between periodontal disease and adverse pregnancy outcomes such as pre-eclampsia, preterm birth, low birth weight premature rupture of membranes. Objectives: To determine prevalence associated among women delivering at Kilimanjaro Christian Medical Centre (KCMC). Methods: This cross-sectional study was based on use patients’ files, clinical examinations oral interviews with mothers who delivered KCMC. Pregnant singleton babies (N=1117) KCMC were recruited for study. Intra-oral examination performed within five days birth. The Community Periodontal Index used to assess Results: 14.2%. significantly higher odds pre-eclampsia [adjusted Odds Ratio 95% Confidence Interval (aOR=4.12;95%CI:2.20-7.90)], (aOR=2.41;95%CI:1.34-4.33) (aOR=2.32;95%CI:1.33-4.27). There no significant association membranes (aORs 1.83;95%CI:0.75-4.21) eclampsia (3.71;95%CI:0.80-17.13). Conclusion: Maternal is a potential independent risk indicator weight, assessment therapy should form part preventive antenatal care provided in developing countries.
