摘要: Abstract We report here that a point mutation in the gene which encodes heterochromatin-specific nonhistone chromosomal protein HP-1 Drosophila melanogaster is associated with dominant suppression of position-effect variegation. The mutation, G-to-A transition at first nucleotide last intron, causes missplicing mRNA. This suggests proteins play central role heterochromatic position effects.
