Effect of Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy Program on Depressive Symptoms Among University Students with Blindness in Nigeria

摘要: Depressive symptoms are frequently observed among individuals with vision loss. Exposing university students blindness to a variety of rational emotive skills that would enable them manage depression and depressive could be an important avenue make feel less depressed become more energetic successfully cope their academic life. The objective this study was examine the efficacy group-based behavior therapy (REBT) intervention on selected in Nigeria. To assess efficacy, group randomized controlled trial design employed. Participants (N = 65) recruited from universities Southeast zone Nigeria were randomly assigned treatment (n = 33) no-intervention control groups (n = 32) after meeting inclusionary criteria. REBT Depression Manual used for delivery while evaluated using Beck Inventory-II. Students took part program period 12 weeks thereafter, 2-week follow-up meeting, twice per week done 2 months intervention. All sessions lasted about 60 min each. Data obtained analyzed 2 × 3 within × between-subjects ANOVA repeated measures, independent samples t test paired t-test. revealed comparison group, had significant reduction scores both at post-treatment evaluations, but no such changes seen group. Given led blindness, implication is thinking, beliefs, feelings can surmounted special need population through application evidence-based techniques.
