摘要: — A density-gradient procedure, previously reported to enable the separation of intact metabolically active neuronal and glial cells, has been appraised in terms cellular homogeneity integrity. Morphological examination by light electron microscopy fractions prepared this method demonstrated marked heterogeneity a high degree damage. The ‘neuronally enriched’ fraction contained large proportion non-neuronal tissue including fragmented capillaries endothelial cells. ‘glial-enriched’ numerous nerve-endings synaptic boutons. The distribution protein, DNA, carbonic anhydrase, succinate dehydrogenase lactate was examined, but such data were difficult interpret view fractions. Particulate material from capable endogenous respiration which stimulated glucose or pyruvate levels slightly lower than that found slices cerebral cortex. The limitations other methods for cell types neural are discussed.
