Gray mold (GM) caused by Botrytis cinerea is a major disease of grapes ( Vitis vinifera ) that substantially reduces the yield and quality grape production in temperate humid regions world. B. necrotrophic fungus attacks non-lignified aerial organs grapes; particular, berries are highly susceptible during ripening. The polycyclic nature exponential progress exhibited GM at beginning its epidemic, as well abundant inoculum production, high dissemination efficiency, wide host range genetic variability , explain difficulties encountered attempting to control GM. At present, integrated management, including cultural chemical control, main strategy. These measures can be used reduce initial or lower infection rate. However, rate most effective means controlling Important toward understanding complexity biology epidemiology this pathogen has occurred recent decades. This allowed improvement development more sustainable strategies against . review article provides update regarding GM, with special emphasis on Chilean conditions.
