摘要: Objective This study aimed to assess whether diminished muscle mass, strength, or both conditions (sarcopenia) are associated with worse nutritional status, poor quality of life (QoL), and hard outcomes, such as hospitalization mortality, in elderly patients on maintenance hemodialysis (MHD). Design Subjects is a multicenter observational longitudinal that included 170 MHD (age 70 ± 7 years, 65% male) from 6 dialysis centers. Main Outcome Measure The European Working Group Sarcopenia Older People defines sarcopenia the presence low mass by appendicular skeletal + low function handgrip strength. evaluated clinical status (laboratory, anthropometry, dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry, 7-point subjective global assessment) QoL (Kidney Disease Quality Life) at baseline. Hospitalization mortality were recorded during 36 months. Results Reduced was observed 64% patients, reduced strength 52%, 37%. group older, had higher proportion men showed when compared without sarcopenia. Although strongly domains. In multivariate Cox analyses adjusted age, gender, vintage, diabetes mellitus, alone hospitalization, predictor mortality. Conclusion conclusion, this sample, comprised MHD,
