摘要: Water sorption by powdered human callus was studied using a vacuum microbalance, X-ray powder diffraction and NMR relaxation. The data were fitted to theoretical isotherms. At high relative vapour pressures an increase in the monolayer value found which is probably related swelling of material. Adsorption/desorption hysteresis present below 0.75' pressure (r.v.p.). Only small protein chain separation observed on water uptake, indicating that primary level organization keratin hardly affected. effect solvent extraction reduce strength binding but leave values constant. Isosteric heats confirm reduction affinity for show totally extracted behaves as mildly hydrophobic results are consistent with model properties determined presence soluble components allow monomolecular layer be formed at low r.v.p. followed physical multilayer formation. Adsorption sodium dodecyl sulphate while trimethyl ammonium bromide left unchanged. The relaxation behaviour very similar hair wool fibres. An activation enthalpy 48 kJ · mol−1 T2 broad T1 minimum about −20°C operating frequency 45 MHz corresponding correlation time 2.2 ns.
