摘要: Segmented image coding (SIC) produces images of better subjective quality than techniques such as the Joint Photographic Experts Group standard at very low bit rates. It segments into regions similar texture and codes their contour separately, Most SIC represent a linear combination orthonormal base functions, which differ from region to region. In earlier methods, bases were generated by Gram-Schmidt (GS) procedure, whose excessive computational requirements are unacceptable in many applications, This paper introduces new class weakly separable (WS) bases, The WS functions product two components, can be quickly using modest amount memory. includes polynomials, cosines, warped polynomials. describes spatial properties these functions. Experimental data show that for typical parameters, is 8 40 times faster traditional SIC, expense 3% 6’% larger root-mean-square error. However, subject compressed only slightly smaller method. Considering its advantages, therefore promising technique fast, rate coding.
