摘要: Rotavirus is the main cause of severe, dehydrating diarrhoea in infants and young children. In industrialized countries, pediatric rotavirus gastroenteritis (PRGE) responsible for high morbidity, particularly among children under 3 years age attending day care centers (DCCs). The objectives this study were to estimate incidence, management cost PRGE DCCs. We also described nature group A genotypes. This compared performance different diagnostic techniques. was conducted from November 2004 May 2005. Children aged less than 36 months, a participating DCC at least 4 times week included study. For any episode acute (AGE), defined as occurrence or more watery looser normal stools and/or forceful vomiting within 24 h period, fecal specimen tested by Elisa test IDEIA (Dako) immunochromatographic VIKIA Rota-Adeno (BioMerieux). Sequencing RT-PCR performed identify genotype. Among 41 DCCs contacted, 18 (43.9%) agreed participate. Out 966 children, 547 attended met inclusion criteria. total 302 clinical diagnosis AGE confirmed validated, test, 63 specimens, which 29 (46%) positive antigen, with predominance P[8]G9 (86%). Our results showed good sensitivity specificity methods when RT-PCR. cases, 36% male median 12.2 months. first case observed December peak January incidence cases 2.2 [1.4-3.0] per 100 child-months months age, increasing 3.4 Vomiting (P<0.0005) behavior modification (P<0.001) significantly frequent cases. 85.7% sought medical attention. 58.3% these one parent had miss work mean duration 2.1 days. seeking attention (with without prescribed medication, days off parents additional diaper consumption) estimated 275.54 euros/case. rate similar that European studies DDC. These findings confirm transmission occurs not only but family. give an infection France.
