The immunohistochemical characterization of sarcomatoid malignant mesothelioma of the pleura

摘要: The immunohistochemical characteristics of epithelioid malignant mesothelioma are well described. However, analyses sarcomatoid mesothelioma, the less common type, limited and its distinction from other tumors chest wall, lung pleura is often problematic. We evaluated 24 patients with pleural who had surgery (12 extrapleural pneumonectomies, 9 pleurectomies 3 large biopsies) between 1989 2005. Clinicopathologic features demographic data were recorded. describe results for 10 antibodies: AE1/AE3, CAM5.2 MNF-116 keratins, calretinin, WT-1 protein, bcl-2, CD34, desmin, D2-40 podoplanin. 23 men one woman a median age at diagnosis 64.7 years (range 47 to 76). Tumor cells positive keratin proteins AE1/AE3 in 18/24 cases, CAM 5.2 23/24 cases 21/21 cases. Calretinin was 6/24 (nuclear) 8/24 bcl-2 0/24 CD34 desmin 24/24 podoplanin This panel antibodies may be helpful establishing pathologic mesothelioma. In our study, highly sensitive markers Additional studies required define their role differential spindle cell tumors.
