摘要: Background Celiac disease (CD) patients adhering to a gluten-free diet (GFD) are exposed frequently low levels of gluten that contribute symptoms and persistent intestinal histologic damage. Objective We analyzed prior clinical data determine how much is accidentally consumed while on GFD. The aim was understand the range consumption for wide distribution CD patients. Design A meta-analysis conducted from 2 different programs: 1) measurements in stool urine non-CD populations; 2) analysis trials investigational therapeutic latiglutenase. studies included controlled challenges. calibration factor applied allowed normal ingestion be computed measurements. From latiglutenase trial data, determination made by estimating eliminated patients' diets due effect led improved histology even placebo group. Results average inadvertent exposure individuals GFD estimated ∼150-400 (mean) ∼100-150 (median) mg/d using test ∼300-400 ∼150 test. analyses with moderate severe indicate ingested significantly >200 gluten. Conclusions These surrogate biomarkers many following regularly consume sufficient trigger perpetuate
