摘要: The literature concerning the efficacy and safety of transrectal high-intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) for treatment localized prostate cancer still comprises a relatively small number articles. main studies have been published by four teams using an apparatus available in Europe several years. recently presented results European Multicentre Study study Gelet associates based on 242 patients with follow-up more than 1 year show that HIFU is valid alternative management welldifferentiated moderately differentiated initial PSA 10 In two studies, combination transurethral resection limited risk postoperative urinary retention without inducing higher complication rate. series presenting recurrence after external-beam radiotherapy, was found to be useful therapy, >80% negative biopsies. best indications are men over age 65, those who not candidates radical prostatectomy, obese patients, or comorbidities likely make surgery difficult. learning curve this technique short, between 15 urologists experienced ultrasonography. One advantages it can repeated case re-treat prostatic site, involves no radiation, do suffer from long-term irritative symptoms.
