Ecdysteroids as regulators of host and parasite interactions: a study of interrelationships between Schistosoma mansoni and the host snail, Biomphalaria glabrata.

摘要: Ecdysteroids have been detected in trematode parasites and several species of gastropod snails. The potential role these other hormones as regulators host/parasite interactions is discussed. This study considers the ecdysteroids host parasite between Schistosoma mansoni Biomphalaria glabrata interactions. beta-Ecdysterone was found to be effective stimulating location activities S. miracidia enhancing growth egg production B. glabrata. However, plant extracts rich phytoecdysteroids were not attractive did affect ecysteroids process parasitism snail physiological processes Plants do appear value which may interfere with schistosomes.
