摘要: A substantial but disparate body of evidence suggests that hormones affect the development schistosomes within their definitive hosts. Here, Raymond Pierce and colleagues review such for host steroid thyroid hormones, ecdysteroids, link this to expanding knowledge nuclear receptors these hormones. Phylogenetic analysis receptor superfamily characterization first schistosome suggest steroids hormone probably act indirectly, or by pathways not involving control gene transcription. However, probability exist a variety unique ligands opens up exciting possibilities targeted drug development.
