摘要: After making the case for an action-oriented science curriculum as a major component of education responsible citizenship, author contends that building such has four key elements. First, learning about issues, is, focusing on and technology aspects important socioscientific issues (SSI), recognizing social, cultural economic contexts in which they are located, developing nature knowledge builds robust understanding contemporary scientific practice, acquiring media literacy necessary to access read with critical wide variety information sources. Second, care people impacted by them, including focus dealing controversy, addressing values concern views, needs interests others. Third, engaging managing powerful emotions often generated SSI. Fourth, sociopolitical action, taking action evaluating action. For this fourth element, advocates 3-stage apprenticeship approach comprising modelling, guided practice application.
