Intelligence, Callous-Unemotional Traits, and Antisocial Behavior

摘要: Research has consistently shown that children with severe conduct problems often exhibit intellectual deficits, especially in their verbal abilities. We investigated whether or not this finding only applies to certain subgroups of problems. In a sample 117 clinic-referred between the ages 6 and 13, we assessed for Oppositional Defiant Disorder (ODD) Conduct (CD) symptoms using structured diagnostic interview each child's parent teacher, callous unemotional traits teacher ratings, functioning standard individually administered intelligence test. Children an ODD CD diagnosis who did show showed deficit on subtests measuring reasoning ability relative clinic control group. also and, fact, trend toward having weaker nonverbal These results highlight importance recognizing distinct when studying potential deficits these children.
