摘要: Purpose To test the biomechanical efficiency of corneal crosslinking with riboflavin without epithelial debridement (C3-R). Setting Moscow Helmholtz Research Institute Eye Diseases, Moscow, Russia. Methods The left eyes rabbits were crosslinked using standard including removal (Group 1), benzalkonium chloride–containing proxymetacaine eyedrops 2), or preservative-free oxybuprocaine 3). All received solution and irradiated an ultraviolet-A double diode for 30 minutes (irradiance 3 mW/cm 2 ). animals killed 1 day after crosslinking. Biomechanical histological analyses performed. Results Fourteen evaluated. There was a statistically significant increase in Young's modulus Group (102.45%) (21.30%). In 3, no changes measured. Histology showed complete cell loss keratocytes endothelium inhomogeneous keratocyte down to 200.0 μm 2. No observed 3. Conclusions Corneal reduced effect by approximately one fifth compared crosslinking, probably because restricted stromal distribution riboflavin. cytotoxic damage depth, which is advantage over method. Therefore, C3-R not recommended routine treatment keratoconus but primarily cases thickness less than 400.0 cannot be used serious risk endothelium.
