摘要: In order to identify brain cell types that serve as host cells of Toxoplasma gondii encystation primary cultures from murine were infected and stained for neural parasite stage-specific markers. mixed culture inoculated with T. tachyzoites, MAP2+ neurons, GFAP+ astrocytes, F4/80+ microglia, O1+ oligodendrocytes proved be detected by parallel labeling SAG1. At 4 days following infection bradyzoites, cysts developed in neuronal, astroglial, microglial clarified using bradyzoite-specific antibody 4F8. Additional staining SAG1 revealed astrocytes bradyzoite-infected can also harbor tachyzoite-containing vacuoles. Stage conversion was observed shortly after inoculation accompanied an increase proliferation. However, tachyzoites became rare prolonged culture. By contrast, the numbers bradyzoites isolated multiplied during long-term These findings demonstrate both glial neuronal allow absence T cell-derived cytokines imply a brain-internal spreading may sustain chronic infection.
