摘要: The extraordinary advances in bone density technology over the last 40 years have enhanced physician’s ability to detect and manage metabolic disease. At same time, these created a dilemma as physicians attempted compare results obtained on early dual-photon (DPA) devices with today’s dual-energy X-ray (DXA) devices. As DXA has advanced, data from pencil-beam systems are being compared fan-array systems. Compounding this issue is that one manufacturer’s device may need be another device, which been calibrated very differently. This situation not dissimilar circumstances during evolution of other types quantitative measurement techniques used clinical medicine. For example, some parameter blood initially performed using type assay, only later replaced by different assay. There ranges normal, depending upon assay even laboratory.
