摘要: The relatively small number of transcription factors and simplified promoters in the highlydivergent parasitic protozoan Giardia lamblia suggests that chromatin modification and/or posttranscriptional regulation may play an unusually important role gene expression. Yet despite recent advances understanding histone modifications, little effort has been spent studying DNA methylation parasite. We present evidence, using anti-5-methylcytosine monoclonal antibody, does methylate its both trophozoite cyst stages, albeit at strikingly low levels. further show, inhibitor 5’-aza-2’-deoxycytidine, is essential for parasite growth.
