摘要: Feces deposited by the breeding alpha pair on exposed substrates and/or zones may act as visual and olfactory marks associated with social dominance in wolves. The aim of this study was to determine if there a correlation between marking behavior, sex hormone levels, physiological stress wild population Iberian wolves Northwest Spain. glucocorticoid levels were measured feces collected function exposure (conspicuous/inconspicuous), height (above ground level/at level), strategic location habitat (at crossroads/off crossroads), well frequency re-marking. feces, believed serve cues, had higher (cortisol) hormones (testosterone, progesterone, estradiol). results suggest that wolves, is subject than subordinate individuals, reproductive suppression subordinates not mediated chronic elevation.
