摘要: Publisher Summary This chapter discusses scent marking in wolves. Scent mammals—the application of an animal's odor to its environment—has long intrigued researchers from various disciplines. In canids, is a well-known phenomenon, commonly observed domestic dogs, and there has been much speculation about functions. was studied during the winters 1971–1972, 1972–1973, 1973–1974 help determine role it plays information flow that integral maintaining organization wolf population. Data were recorded on detailed sketch keyed topographic map. Wolves mark several ways make odors they apply environment especially apparent. The four kinds marking: (1) raised-leg urination, (2) squat (3) defecation, (4) scratching.
