摘要: The activities of the Hedgehog (Hh) protein family are central to growth and patterning developing tissues organs in many different organisms. Hh proteins secreted ligands synthesized discrete regions. receptor is Patched (Ptc) it expressed cells close source Hh. Ptc binds ligand transduces a signal which modulated depending on context concentration received. several molecular components pathway were first identified characterized Drosophila, providing relevant milestones our understanding how transduced. However, important gaps still need be elucidated. Some these converge its intriguing mechanisms reception transduction. Mutations that prevail both animal human populations giving some clues crucial aspects function. Patients bearing mutated forms suffer variety serious diseases. Molecular cellular studies Drosophila have given us clue function such as normal topology and/or sorting receptor. Thus, widened knowledge might help design specific therapies for disorders. This chapter focuses recent advances shed light may operate cell.
