摘要: Seoul virus, an Old World hantavirus, is maintained in brown rats and causes a mild form of hemorrhagic fever with renal syndrome (HFRS) humans. We captured rodents New Orleans, Louisiana tested them for the presence hantaviruses by reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) sequencing, cell culture, electron microscopy; 6 (3.4%) 178 captured—all rats—were positive virus variant previously coined Tchoupitoulas which was noted Orleans 1980s. The finding over 25 years since its first discovery suggests stable endemicity city. Although degree to this human infection disease remains unknown, repeated demonstration rodent populations, recent cases laboratory-confirmed HFRS some US cities, possible link hypertensive warrant additional investigation both
