摘要: The advent of the asynchronous time division (ATM) concept has created opportunity to use variable bit rate (VBR) coding techniques for video services in broadband networks. principles VBR are explained, and benefits-stabilized picture quality combined with a high bandwidth efficiency-are indicated. results obtained hardware model codec presented, statistical multiplexing gain figures given. A allocation scheme is proposed that based on characterization policing sources. It concluded this offers performance limited impact network encoder complexity. >
