摘要: Abstract The triplet self-quenching process of three aliphatic aldehydes has been investigated by inhibition with dienes (taking into account the singlet interaction dienes) and laser flash photolysis. results obtained for intersystem crossing, setf-quenching product formation have rationalized. main reactivity observed is which occurs from both state. photolysis experiments carried out butanal show two absorptions a transient at 320 aod 355 nm; no evidence different species could be put forward. similar decay absorption maximas transient, as concentration aldehyde increased, would indicative only one single absorbing either state or radical-pair formed 1,4-biradical resulting γ-H abstraction. fact that quenching (by 1-methylnaphthalene) measurements lead to about same lifetime also indicates species. products method: excitation benzophenone 365 nm in presence butanal. quantum yields those direct irradiation butanal, except octane-4,5-dione increased if photoreaction beazophenone.
