摘要: Background Medical services for pregnancy and childbirth are inherently risky unpredictable. In many states, obstetrician-gynecologists (OB-GYNS) who attend the majority of childbirths in United States provide most clinically complex obstetric procedures struggling with increasing malpractice insurance premiums litigation risk. Despite its significant implications patient care, potential impact burden on OB-GYN physicians' career satisfaction has not been rigorously tested previous research. Methods Drawing data from a statewide survey providers Michigan, this paper examined association between medical liability OB-GYNs' satisfaction. Malpractice claims experience were used as 2 objective measures burden. Descriptive statistics calculated multivariable logistic regressions estimated analysis. Results Although respondents reported their overall medicine, 43.7% had become less satisfied over last 5 years 34.0% would recommend obstetrics/gynecology to students seeking advice. Multivariable regression analysis showed that compared coverage through an employer, paying ≥$50,000/year premium was associated lower among OB-GYNs (odds ratio, 0.35; 95% confidence interval, 0.13–0.93). We found no experience, including both recent (during [2001–2006]) earlier (>5 ago), Conclusions The findings study suggest high negatively affect current climate quality care pregnant women warrants further investigation.
