摘要: A survey was conducted on 12 050 Black schoolchildren, aged 2 to 18 years, in the South Western Townships of Johannesburg (Soweto), and prevalence non-ejection systolic clicks late murmurs determined. One or both these auscultatory findings were detected 168 children, yielding a rate 13-99 per 1000 school population. female preponderance 1-9:1 present there strong linear increase with age, peak 29-41 17-year-old children. click only abnormal finding 123 children (73%) mitral murmur 8 (5%), whereas 37 (22%) present. Of latter 32; 5 it early systolic. Auscultation different postures important detection murmurs. Experience influenced frequency which they heard. Electrocardiographic abnormalities compatible those previously described billowing leaflet syndrome 11 158 The aetiology this community remains unknown. In same survey, high rheumatic heart disease recorded epidemiology showed similarties that disease. Though specific almost certainly accounts for some findings, significant proportion may have Further elucidation problem is necessary.
